Peter Farquharson, Habitat for Humanity NI, was named the Voluntary and Community sector's ‘Overall Inspiring Leader of the Year' at CO3's Leadership Voyage Conference 2010 and Voyager Awards.

Peter said ‘I am delighted and touched to receive this inaugural Voyager Leadership Award as an appropriate recognition and tribute to the many thousands of volunteers who have joined with Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland over these past 15 years; building houses, building community and building hope at home and around the world. Habitat for Humanity is a global housing movement with vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. I am privileged to be part of that movement which inspires and motivates leaders who share a commitment to make poverty housing and homelessness socially, politically and religiously unacceptable in our world.'

The Hope Ball celebrates 15 years of Habitat for Humanity's work in Northern Ireland and a commitment to building houses, building community and building HOPE at home and around the world. 

Madrid Street Project provides 'hand-up' to home ownership in East Belfast

We are delighted to launch a further local project in Madrid Street, East Belfast. The project will offer a hand-up to homeownership for local families on lower incomes who are prepared to build their own home alongside volunteers as part of Habitat's unique self-build programme.
