Youth Build brings together 16-18 year olds from across Ireland to work alongside communities in need in Romania.
Habitat’s Youth Build is a unique opportunity to learn about the impact of poverty housing first-hand in Romania. Volunteers build beside families and communities, engage with local youth programmes and experience the country’s vibrant culture.
Habitat co-ordinates everything that is needed for a safe and rewarding experience. All training is provided. You could be doing anything, from digging foundations and raising walls to painting and decorating.

Need to know
The programme includes a compulsory weekend residential in February and a 10 day trip to Romania. There will be a range of dates available in Easter, late June and July 2021.
The budget to take part is £1,650p/p (this includes a non-refundable deposit, weekend residential, travel, in-country expenses, a debrief and a minimum £700 donation towards Habitat’s work). Of the £1,650, we ask volunteers to make a minimum personal/parental contribution of £500 towards logistics costs. If you are unable to make this contribution, get in touch.
There are lots of ideas and resources to support fundraising, including our fundraising pack. Volunteers must be open about what the funds raised will support.
Where will I stay?
Accommodation will be clean and safe; usually a modest hotel or guest house. Local Habitat staff will organise transport to and from the work site.
What will I eat?
You will have the opportunity to try local food but in most cases you will have access to food you will be familiar with too! Bottled water will be provided to keep you hydrated. Include allergies or specific requirements in your application form.
What age do I have to be to take part?
You must be aged 16-18 at the time of travel to take part in Youth Build. We have lots of other opportunities for those aged 18+ here.
