Have a question? Get in touch:

Cambodia is home to 15 million people; more than a quarter live below the poverty line. The country is emerging from decades of conflict and inequalities still persist.

Too many families live in poorly built homes without access to secure tenure or basic facilities, such as proper toilets and clean water.

Since 2003, Habitat Cambodia has been working to develop sustainable communities, serving more than 90,000 people.

Next summer, join a team of volunteers from QUB to support this life changing work. This is a unique opportunity to experience grassroots development and be inspired by the generosity of the Cambodian people. Volunteers will:

SEE the shocking reality of poverty housing

SERVE families in need

SPEAK out for the cause of safe, decent housing when they return home

Come along to one of our on-campus info sessions!

  • Monday 30th September @ 7pm in the Student's Union

  • Wednesday 9th October @ 3pm in the Student Guidance Centre

Habitat co-ordinates everything for a safe and rewarding experience. You don’t need special skills to take part.

Day 1-2 Depart Ireland, arrive in Cambodia & orientation

Day 3-10 Build and closing celebration with the community

Day 11-12 Depart & return home

Dates dependent on flight availability.

Supporting Habitat's Work

The budget to take part is £2,200p/p (this includes a non-refundable deposit, travel, in-country expenses, a debrief and a minimum £700 donation towards Habitat’s work). Volunteers make a minimum personal contribution of £500 towards logistics costs. If you are unable to make this contribution, get in touch.

There are lots of ideas and resources to support fundraising. Volunteers must be clear about what the funds raised will support.

Need to Know

Where will I stay?

Accommodation will be clean and safe; usually a modest hotel or guest house.  Local Habitat staff will organise transport to and from the work site.

What will I eat?

You will have the opportunity to try local food but in most cases you will have access to food you will be familiar with too! Bottled water will be provided to keep you hydrated.  Include allergies or specific requirements in your application form.

Do I have to be a QUB student to take part?

Yes, to take part in this trip, however we have lots of other opportunities for those who are not here. You must be over 15 to join the team. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or can join a Youth Build team. If you are older than 75, get in touch to discuss insurance.
