Join our festive fundraising challenge! Build hope as you build a gingerbread house and raise funds, which will support some of the most vulnerable communities.
Every day, Habitat for Humanity works beside families to build, renovate or repair their home in 70 countries around the world.
COVID19 has forced everyone to deeply consider the fundamental importance of home — of having safe, decent and affordable shelter.
For far too many families, when governments around the world called on citizens to stay safe at home that wasn’t possible. For the 1.6 billion people worldwide who live in grossly inadequate housing, being forced to stay home didn’t mean safety and exacerbated the conditions with which they have struggled for so long.
This Christmas- be a part of this life-changing work & raise funds so that families like Anna’s (below) can stay safe during these difficult times. Taking part is simple, plan your challenge at home with family, socially distanced with colleagues at work or go online for a competition with your friends; community group; church or youth group. Our challenge promises a feast of festive fundraising fun!
If baking's not for you, head down to your local supermarket, grab a ready-made kit and just do the fun decorating bit.
Don't forget to share your photos and videos on social media & encourage others to get involved! Tag us @habitatforhumanityireland or #habitatgingerbreadbuild.
Children like Anna Nampemba, aged 9 from Zambia, deserve to be able to sleep safe at night.
Anna’s Mum Rudith was constantly worried for her children, living in a home with a door that didn’t lock and a roof that leaked when it rained.
Anna and her family moved into their new Habitat home in Kabwe, where they can stay safe, be healthier and look toward the future.
Mable Chisanga (right) is a village water attendant in Zambia. Access to clean safe water is integral to protect communities against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Habitat for Humanity is working in Zambia, implementing WASH programmes to provide clean water in Lusaka, Kabwe and Ndola Districts.
Habitat Zambia is working in the most vulnerable communities to build sanitation stations and distribute hygiene packs. We are also raising awareness in these communities, to promote correct techniques for COVID-19 prevention.
Just £16 could buy 60 bricks to build a safe home for a family like Anna's.
Just £47 can buy a safe and secure front door for a family.
£75 can provide emergency family hygiene packs.
£200 will buy the corrugrated iron to build a roof that won’t leak.
