Lesina's Story: Big Build Families

Big Build 2019 is underway. In 1 week, the team will build 10 homes beside local families, supporting Orphaned and Vulnerable children in the community. This is Lesina, one of the beneficiaries, read her story below.

Lesina is a 74 year old widow who lives with her five grandchildren in Maambo Village.

Her husband passed away some years ago. Since the death of her husband, life has never been easy.

Lesina suffered a stroke a year ago. Before she suffered from stroke, Lesina would work in other people’s fields to earn money for necessities in their home. However, with her current condition, it is hard for her to do any work at all.

Currently, the family lives in a house that brings more risk to the children and leaks a lot during rainy season as it was built using unburnt bricks, has a grass thatch roof and it has several cracks in its walls.

As part of Big Build 2019, Lesina's family will work alongside volunteers from across Ireland to build a safe & secure place, that she can call home.
