Habitat NI has welcomed to its local work hundreds of volunteers from across the United States and Canada.
From pouring the foundations for the first Habitat homes built in Belfast to raising the walls of our current project in Templemore Avenue, US volunteers have played a very special role in building homes, communities and hope in Northern Ireland.
In total we have hosted over 80 global village teams from right across the US and Canada. There are many special partnerships including Villanova University in Philadelphia and Bel Air Presbyterian Church in California who have sent more than 10 teams each.
The homeowners and their neighbours in all of our completed projects still talk about the ‘American volunteers’ with real affection.
We call our American volunteers ‘Ambassadors’ as many have gone on to advocate, pray and raise funds for us long after returning home from their global village trips.
