Churches

The powerful, prayerful support of our many church partners has been central to our work since it began. Habitat offers your church the opportunity to put faith into action and to build community and fellowship within the church family.

Habitat is about more than building houses. It is about demonstrating the love of God through practical action.

It is our Christian faith that motivates our mission. We witness to the power and love of Jesus each time we build a house, strengthen a community and make people aware of families in need.

James 2: 15 -17

If you know someone who doesn't have any clothes or food, you shouldn't just say 'I hope all goes well for you, I hope you will be warm and have plenty to eat.' What good is it to say this, unless you do something to help? Faith that doesn't lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead!

Building the Church

• Opportunity to put your faith and love into action
• Build community and fellowship within the congregation
• Opportunity to involve all ages in active mission - no experience necessary other than a desire to serve the needs of others - in addition to volunteering we have partnership opportunities for younger groups to be involved in our work through fundraising or education projects connecting the whole congregation in a tangible way with families in need.
• Provides for important and meaningful connections between Christians as they build together with others of the same faith or different faiths
• Demonstrate your congregations commitment to social justice

• Experience spiritual growth and renewal through service to others

Volunteer Locally/Globally

Many of our active church partners have built on faith both in Northern Ireland and alongside families in need in some of the world's most vulnerable communities.

"Habitat for Humanity for me is a way of sharing in other peoples journeys - both the team and the families - a way of being the people of God.

Habitat gave me the opportunity to work alongside people from a different community and as we worked side by side we became friends. It showed me that there is something that ordinary people in Northern Ireland can do, we can't change the past but we can build a better future."

Fr Ciaran Dallat - Global Village Team Leader
